ARTESP, on the authority of The Government of São Paulo, has opened bidding for the resumption of works on the North Rodoanel 31-year concession including iRAP as the road safety metric.
A R$3 billion (USD$550 million) investment is planned for the expansion, operation and maintenance of the 44km stretch between Sao Paulo, Aruja and Guarulhos.
As well as including the iRAP methodology as the independent verification for safety, new contractual mechanisms include the implementation of a free flow toll system, innovative sensor technology to calculate rate and a user pays tariff per kilometre travelled when transiting through the metropolitan region.

The concession will allow the completion of the North Beltway which will play an important role in the economic growth of the State, redefining the transport logistics platform and expanding traffic flow to the Port of Santos.
With the conclusion of works, the Rodoanel will be 177km long and organize transit through the metropolitan region, reducing congestion and freeing the internal road network for local traffic.
International bidding will close at 2pm on 27 April. Interested parties can seek further information on email novasconcessoes@artesp.sp.gov.br by 1 April.
