At the heart of iRAP is a spirit of co-operation. We provide tools and training to help government, automobile associations, funding agencies, development banks, research institutes and other non-government organisations in more than 100 countries to help make their roads safer.
Our work is only possible through the great generosity of key donors and sponsors such as the FIA Foundation, Road Safety Fund and FedEx. Global application of our metrics are supported by important partnerships with the World Bank Global Road Safety Facility, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Multi-lateral Development Banks, European Union, UN agencies and national development aid programmes.
Regional and national partnerships with the ‘X’RAP programmes together with leadership from governments, FIA mobility clubs and similar NGO’s commited to road safety unlock impact in more than 100 countries worldwide. We also benefit greatly from the goodwill of many other individuals and research organisations around the world who are committed to saving lives through safer roads.
iRAP works collaboratively with road authorities, road builders and international financial organisations to inform and unlock the benefits of safer roads. We are a key partner in promoting innovative policy and thought leadership and academic research for safer roads. Our annual Innovation Workshop is a leading global forum for new thinking on road safety. Check out the presentations from last year’s Innovation Workshop here.
iRAP also supports key stakeholder organisations such as PIARC (The World Road Association) and advises intergovernmental organisations such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Transport Ministers of the Council of the European Union.
Together with our partners, we will create a world free of high-risk roads.
Our work is also supported by a range of influential key development and policy partners with whom we have agreements and project level partnerships in place. Their leadership and support is invaluable in enabling our life saving safer roads projects to become a reality.
iRAP’s protocols and models benefit from the evidence-based research undertaken by the world's leading road safety research experts. The Centres of Excellence are peak organisations that have a demonstrated excellence in road safety engineering and are focused on activities for the public good.
Being an iRAP Centre of Excellence is an opportunity offered to only a select few research institutions. Centres of Excellence are selected by the iRAP Executive for their calibre, recognized global status and relevance. There are no fees associated with being an iRAP Centre of Excellence.
iRAP currently has 11 Centres of Excellence.
