Artificial Intelligence presents real prospects for the speed and efficiency of iRAP road data collection.
There are significant possibilities offered by applied AI approaches like machine vision and generalised AI systems based around machine learning for automating the road coding task. The focus of this iRAP Innovation Partnership is to explore the AI for road object identification and classification from either road imagery or LiDAR data.

Status

iRAP is working with different partners to develop a digital schema for the iRAP Star Rating road attributes and exploring the best ways to collect this data using AI techniques.
