We are delighted to share our 2023 Annual Report highlighting Partner Impact across the world helping to eliminate high-risk roads.

See the stories behind our journey including:

  • Google.org’s USD$2 million grant for safer school journeys using AI.
  • New partnerships with UNOPS, Aleatica Foundation, Road Safety Council of Costa Rica (COSEVI), Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) Mexico, and Prudence Foundation to transform road safety worldwide.
  • The launch of KSARAP for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, life-saving results from TanRAP and the Ten Step Tanzania Project, the integration of EuroRAP, a new strategy and agreed targets for AusRAP, and recognition of the world’s best performing road authorities through the Gary Liddle Memorial Trophy.
  • Star Rating for Schools’ launch of the YEA app, new tool enhancements and partnerships across 70 countries making school journeys safer for children.
  • Training and accreditation of over 69,000 people in 164 countries including a new #RAPKnowledgeLIVE webinar series and programme to train Saudi engineers behind the world’s first 5-star city NEOM which includes the linear ‘city of the future’ THE LINE.
  • Global Innovation Partnerships transforming road safety with AI and CycleRAP, transformation of our RAPTools for urban and local government settings, and delivery of our 10th Innovation Workshop in Prague.
  • Project outcomes for safer roads and designs from Colombia to Kazakhstan, Italy to Mongolia, Kenya to Cambodia; including multi-country impact through Projects PHOEBE and ELABORATOR for safer journeys for vulnerable road users in urban environments across Europe, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation partnership advancing road safety in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Road safety advocacy for UN Global Road Safety Week, and global summits including the UN SDG Summit, G20 Summit, landmark WHO Heads of Agencies Summit and 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.

As at December 2023, 1.8 million kilometres of Crash Risk Mapping and 1.8 million kilometres of Star Ratings of roads and designs (including 1,356 schools), have been performed by iRAP partners in 125 countries, informing the safety of over 100 billion USD of road infrastructure investments. 69,000 people have been trained.

We are so proud to share the inspirational work of our 30,000 partners last year whose tireless energy and commitment is transforming safety on a global scale.

Our 2023 outcomes would not be possible without the generous donor support of the FIA Foundation, our many development partners including the European Investment Bank (EIB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), World Bank Global Road Safety Facility and Millennium Challenge Corporation, as well as our project and corporate partners including Aleatica Foundation, 3M and Prudence Foundation amongst others who are key to our shared impact as a charity.

We hope you enjoy the journey!
