Creating #3starorbetter roads in Indonesia will save 15,000 lives a year in reaching United Nations Global Goals or road safety.

iRAP’s CEO Rob McInerney was in Jakarta last week working with Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Public Works, 3M, USA Embassy, PT Jasa Marga – Persero Tbk, University of Indonesia to build on great work so far and create a locally led IndonesiaRAP programme to unlock the life-saving potential of safer roads across Indonesia.

The Hon. Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Transportation, Republic of Indonesia provided the opening address, and Rob McInerney had the opportunity to share the latest iRAP work worldwide, as well as the local work in Indonesia.

According to iRAP’s Business Case for Safer Roads https://www.vaccinesforroads.org/irap-big-data-tool-map/ – If Indonesia can achieve >75% of travel on 3-star or better roads for all road users by 2030, iRAP predicts a reduction of 15,312 deaths per year and a reduction of 3,368,552 deaths and serious injuries over 20 years.  $22 of benefits will accrue for every $1 invested.
