iRAP has been supporting the Vision Zero Academy Course delivered in Brazil since 2021 and has provided infrastructure safety training to more than 630 participants through the programme.
The most recent training, delivered in February reached 183 participants with a three-hour iRAP session included in the programme.
Presentations were delivered on iRAP and partner activity around the world, Principles of Safe Infrastructure in the Safe System Approach, the iRAP Methodology, the iRAP Training and Accreditation Programme, RAPTools (including CycleRAP and Star Rating for Schools), impact investing, and innovation projects Star Rating for Designs and AiRAP.
The Vision Zero Academy Course aims to provide a deeper understanding of the Vision Zero concept for key actors working in road safety in Brazil. It is a great example of successful international collaboration and capacity building in road safety, helping to increase the dialogue between road safety professionals in Brazil and internationally.
iRAP Safer Journeys Lead for The Americas Edgar Zamora said, “We congratulate the Vision Zero Academy on this long-term programme of training supporting road safety professionals in Brazil. We are delighted to be involved sharing the iRAP methodology, tools and activities that are helping to create a Brazil free of high-risk roads.”
