It’s been a busy period for road safety in India and across the world. The United Nations Second Decade of Action for Road Safety Plan 2021-2030 has been released and will be officially launched on 28 October by UN, WHO and other global and national partners. It outlines the global approach planned to halve road deaths and injuries by 2030 in accordance with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.6. The UN High Level Meeting will follow in New York in July 2022 and look at “The 2030 horizon for road safety: Securing a decade of action and delivery”. These events have relevance for India as we shape national strategy and action plans to 2030 to halve road deaths and injuries on safer roads.
