The Hon Catherine King MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local opened the Roads Australia Transforming Transportation event today, announcing a significant investment in road infrastructure to address the concerning increase in road trauma across Australia.

There is a $120bn Federal commitment to invest over ten years with $18.8bn in 2023. As part of this investment, there is a focus on safety, including $150m into the black spot programme and an increase of local government roads to recovery funding to $1bn a year.

Significantly, the Minister announced today the funding will include a $21m investment in the National Road Safety Data Hub and also the national funding agreement will include data provision.

This data will empower decision-makers to allocate resources more effectively and target high-risk areas.

With a national policy target to have 80% of travel on 3-star or better roads, this transport investment will be critical to saving lives.

The AusRAP partners are collecting new Star Rating data across the country with investment plans that are ready to help optimize that investment and maximize lives saved per dollar spent.

Congratulations to the Australian Government.
