Thanks to our partners, iRAP’s influence in creating safer school journeys and delivering vision zero through partnerships was presented at this week’s International Road Federation (IRF Global) R2T Conference in Washington DC.

Under the conference theme The Future of Roadways: Green, Equitable, Intelligent and Integrated, usRAP Lead and Managing Director of the Roadway Safety Foundation Bruce Hamilton presented in a plenary session on Delivering Vision Zero through Partnerships empowered by the iRAP global road infrastructure safety standard which underpins UN Global Road Safety Performance Targets 3 and 4.

Dan Chen, Vice President and General Manager of 3M also presented on 3M’s Global Programme Partnership with Star Rating for Schools, showcasing their school zone initiative which aims to improve the safety of 100 school zones by 2024 and raise global awareness of the road dangers children face.

Mr Chen spoke warmly of the partnership and shared 3M’s plans to amplify its commitment to keeping roads safe with its school zone transformations. Starting with 100 schools around the world, Project School Zone Safety is implementing science-driven innovations to make road improvements to help protect the lives of children.

R2T is the international meeting point where leading industry innovators and engineers, highway transportation officials, design consultants, transport researchers, construction contractors, equipment manufacturers and distributors, and road safety stakeholders acquire essential engineering and business insights to help build tomorrow’s transportation infrastructure today.

The Conference aims to push the boundaries of 21st century roads and mobility by bringing together global thought leaders to discover pioneering concepts through a programme of live demonstrations and applied knowledge sessions.
