Key European partners gathered on 3 October in Barcelona to discuss the financing and delivery of safer roads and streets for Europe.

The workshop brought together decision-makers from the European Investment Bank (EIB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), POLIS Network, Conference of European Directors of Roads (CEDR), EuroRAP, European Institute of Road Assessment (EIRA), International Transport Forum (ITF), FIA Foundation, Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Region I, iRAP, Road Safety Foundation, World Bank, International Road Federation (IRF) Geneva and IRF Global.

Partners discussed how enhanced cooperation and coordination can ensure the United Nations Global Goals and European Commission Road Safety Targets will be met and how safe road infrastructure will play its role alongside other safe system action.

Many great safer roads initiatives at national, regional and city level are already underway and enhanced knowledge and leveraging of action together will maximise lives and serious injuries saved.

“We cannot do it alone,” was one of the quotes from the day as partners seek to mobilise the efficient financing and delivery of safer roads across Europe together.
