Delivered under the Road Safety Capacity Building Programme for Asia and the Pacific and Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety 2020-2025.
Introduction:
The Decade of Action for Global Road Safety 2021-2030 sets a target of halving road deaths and injuries. The Global Plan, adopted in 2021, aims to inspire national and local government, as well other stakeholders who can influence road safety, while they develop their own road safety action plans and targets.
This 5-part webinar series will focus on safer road infrastructure recommendations of the Global Plan, sharing knowledge, tools and case studies that will help countries eliminate high-risk roads, unlock the economic benefits of 3-star or better roads, and meet global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and United Nations (UN) Target obligations.
The series combines two capacity building initiatives:
- The World Bank Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF) & iRAP Helping Save Lives: Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) 2020-2025 series, which aims to introduce iRAP for those who want to use the methodology to help eliminate high-risk roads and share case studies of initiatives supported by GRSF and BIGRS. Previous webinars in this series have been delivered for Latin America, India and Africa.
- The Road Safety Capacity Building Programme (RSCBP) is a series of online modules supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO) and delivered with the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and iRAP. During 2021, modules on Road Safety Management and Safer Road Users were delivered.
Participants will have practical assignments and will receive certificate upon conclusion a Certificate of Completion after complete attendance at all four sessions and completing all required activities.
Who should attend:
This webinar series is designed for engineers of road authorities; and road safety engineers, consultants and professionals involved in road design, operation, and maintenance, and with a strong focus on the Asia Pacific region.
