EuroRAP AISBL is partnering with ARRB – Australian Road Research Board on a exciting new Austroads project to provide an investment roadmap to ensure the physical infrastructure can meet the needs of automated vehicles.

The Austroads project ‘Minimum physical infrastructure standard for the operation of automated driving (Austroads reference: FPI6258), is expected to answer the key research question: What are the benefits and costs of investing in road and roadside infrastructure to support AVs?

The research undertaken will provide information to road agencies so they are able to understand the optimal level of road and roadside infrastructure needed to provide an optimal level of support for the automated features of SAE level 3 and level 4 automated vehicle travelling on freeways and motorways, as well as rural highways.
