…until the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Sweden. iRAP has an exciting line-up of pre-events and announcements planned to support Ministers, governments, road safety NGOs, mobility clubs and practitioners to create a world free of high risk roads. We’ll be highlighting the iRAP Global Standard for road infrastructure safety and how countries can achieve the UN Global Road Safety Performance Targets 3 and 4. The lifesaving work of our partners across more than 100 countries will be on show in the following ways:

Star Rating for Schools (SR4S), made possible with the founding sponsorship of FedEx and major donor support of the FIA Foundation, is a systematic and evidence-based tool for measuring, managing and communicating the risk children are exposed to on a journey to school. It supports quick interventions that save kids lives and prevent serious injuries from day one. The Launch will open access to this important tool for partners to use worldwide and is the exciting culmination of 7 years of research, development and global pilot studies. 670 schools have already been assessed, school zones upgraded and capacity built across 30 countries, supported by 12 world-leading NGOs involved in school road safety.

SR4S was awarded a 2018 Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for its huge potential to reduce risk and save lives of children and pedestrians at a community level world-wide. In addition to launching at the CHI Conference, the app will also be demoed at a range of events including:

FEVR IN CITIES EVENT

3RD GLOBAL MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON ROAD SAFETY

The 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety will gather 1500 delegates, including ministers from 80 United Nations Member States, senior officials from United Nations agencies and representatives from civil society, academia and the private sector. iRAP CEO Rob McInerney will present on “Designing roads for safety”.
