We are delighted to announce that The Floow Ltd. has received AiRAP Attribute Accreditation for its telematics data to produce road attribute data in accordance with iRAP specifications.

The new source data can be used to produce 4 road attributes for roads in countries where data is available. The Floow performed a series of validation exercises using data from journeys that took place in the West Midlands, UK, as part of the EU-funded PHOEBE project. PHOEBE is an iRAP-led endeavour to use traffic simulation and AI to create a human-centred framework that helps cities to predict and improve road safety, especially for vulnerable road users.

“We are proud to receive AiRAP accreditation and to make our traffic insights available to support global road-safety programmes. At The Floow, our mission has always been to help understand and reduce risk on the road through the responsible and evidenced use of data. By combining real-world driving data with iRAP’s risk models, we can better empower policymakers and transport managers to make better-informed decisions that protect all road users”, said Dr Sam Chapman, Director of The Floow.

iRAP’s Global Technical Director, James Bradford congratulated The Floow, “We are delighted to welcome The Floow as an AiRAP Accredited Supplier. This accreditation is a key milestone for the AiRAP initiative, validating the use of high-quality telematics data to generate essential road attribute information for iRAP assessments. Integrating The Floow’s real-world traffic flows and speeds directly into our Star Ratings and risk mapping tools empowers policymakers with the actionable evidence needed to target life-saving infrastructure interventions more accurately and efficiently. This partnership accelerates our vision to achieve a world free of high-risk roads.”

AiRAP accreditation is iRAP’s newest category of accreditation. It is specifically to certify the use of data derived from big data and/or machine-learning methods meets iRAP specifications.

The AiRAP accreditation process is open to any data providers and is managed as part of iRAP’s broader accreditation program.

About The Floow

Founded in Sheffield, UK, The Floow is a global leader in telematics and mobility behavioural analytics, systems and solutions. Its technology provides actionable insights not only to insurers, OEMs, and fleets but also supporting transport authorities, consultancies and policymakers. The Floow provide actionable evidence to enable safer, smarter, and greener mobility.

Through its advanced telematics and data analytics capabilities, The Floow can now provide direct supplies of real-world driving statistics. These statistics include all operating speeds and flow across the road network. This capability supports iRAP models to more accurately map high-risk driving environments using measured speeds and flow to better support targeted interventions that save lives and prevent injuries on the world’s roads.

AiRAP accreditation confirms that The Floow’s data handling, processing and analytics methods meet stringent standards for quality and value to support road assessment risk models. With this certification, The Floow joins a growing community of accredited data providers collectively helping to accelerate and better target global efforts towards safer roads.

About the EU-funded PHOEBE project

PHOEBE – Predictive Approaches for Safer Urban Environment – is an EU-funded initiative under Horizon Europe that aims to enhance road safety for vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and micro-mobility users. The project brings together traffic simulation, road safety assessment, human behavior modeling, and emerging mobility data into a harmonized predictive framework for urban environments.

Over its 3.5-year duration, PHOEBE applies this framework in three pilot cities: Athens (GR), Valencia (ES), and West Midlands (UK). By simulating and forecasting the safety impacts of disruptive changes—such as new transport modes, technologies, or policy shifts—PHOEBE provides urban stakeholders with actionable insights to design safer, more sustainable transport networks.
