Last week, iRAP’s Chief of Future Impact Rob McInerney presented at the Australian Future Transport Summit in Brisbane contributing to the collective dialogue of government, industry and academic leaders formulating recommendations and the path forward for the country’s transport future.

The National Summit is a catalyst for Australia to maximise safety, sustainability and productivity in future transport, especially through connectivity and automation.

Spearheaded by the Centre for Connected and Automated Transport (CCAT), the Summit is a collaborative effort between more than 120 transport agencies, statutory bodies, transport and logistics associations, infrastructure providers, technology providers, community bodies, consultancies and research organisations.

It aims to deliver collectively agreed recommendations across the five critical themes of Safety, Productivity, Sustainability, Social Legitimacy and Infrastructure.

To inform the Summit recommendations, an extensive public consultation was conducted, inviting submissions from national and international organisations which shaped the Summit Discussion Paper.

Over two days, attendees heard from prominent keynote speakers and participated in expert-led forums exploring the most pressing issues. Recommendations were refined for final endorsement as a blueprint for the future.
