Safe System Solutions in Australia has been supporting Transurban in assessing risk for cyclists on its Melbourne networks with the support of CycleRAP.

Transurban is a major Australian-based multinational company that develops, manages, and operates urban toll road networks, with assets across Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane), the Greater Washington area in the US, and Montreal, Canada.

Check out the short video below to see how the CycleRAP assessments work in practice:

Max McCardal, Active Transport Lead at Safe System Solutions said, “Keeping people safe on roads, streets and paths is our mission, and CycleRAP provides an objective, evidence-based way to understand how well cycling infrastructure manages injury risk.

“It’s fantastic to see that Transurban has taken the initiative to CycleRAP their transport network – that they understand the risk not only for those travelling in motor vehicles, but those travelling by two wheels as well.”

CycleRAP assessments have now been undertaken in 31 countries with the support of 14 Trusted Suppliers.

CycleRAP is an easy, affordable and fast method of evaluating road and bicycling infrastructure for safety. It aims to reduce crashes and improve safety specifically for bicyclists and other light mobility users by identifying high risk locations without the need for crash data.
