The latest #RAPKnowledgeLive session, which was attended over 100 people from 48 countries, focused on how bicycle and pedestrian flow data can transform road safety and mobility planning, now has the recording available to watch. Flow data provides a powerful foundation for understanding where people walk and cycle, helping cities design safer, more efficient, and more comfortable networks.

With expert speakers Roxy Tacq – Strategic Coordinator, DQ Flows and Monica Olyslagers – Global Innovation Manager and Cities Specialist, iRAP, the participants:

  • discovered how going beyond 75% of travel maps can unlock new insights for safer, more efficient cycling infrastructure.
  • explored how flow estimates, based on a prediction model, classify network usage and how this data, combined with flow counts, can provide numerical values to guide decision-making.
  • learnt how these insights can refine facility assessments, identify key intersections, and prioritize improvements—illustrated with real-world examples, including projects in Barcelona.

Watch the recording below to gain valuable insights, and see practical ways to integrate flow data into safety assessments, policy, and design.
