What is ViDA?

Protecting the integrity of the global standard for road infrastructure safety, ViDA is the free online data hosting and processing engine for iRAP Star Ratings – an objective measure of the level of safety which is ‘built-in’ to the road for vehicle occupants, pedestrians, motorcyclists and bicyclists – where a 1-star road is the least safe and a 5-star road is the safest.

It analyses results providing Fatal and Serious Injury (FSI) Estimates and Investment Plans to inform life-saving road upgrades, and is the hub for iRAP’s global tools that are revolutionising the safety of highways and urban streets worldwide: Star Rating for Designs (SR4D), Star Rating Demonstrator, and Star Rating for Schools (SR4S).

As of March 2024, 7.8 million km of full Star Rating analysis and investment scenarios have been undertaken in iRAP’s ViDA used by nearly 20,000 RAP partners.
