EuroRAP held its 20th General Assembly in Lipica, Slovenia, on 24th May 2022. The hybrid event allowed members and stakeholders the opportunity to meet in person and contribute online. The main agenda item was the plan for streamlining European activities. In addition, this was final General Assembly for John Dawson, EuroRAP’s founding father. A tribute was paid to his foresight in setting up EuroRAP and its success in improving the safety of Europe’s roads.
Over 50 delegates from all over Europe met to discuss the latest developments and to exchange views on different topics. The welcome address was given by Ferry Smith, Chairman of the EuroRAP Board, which was followed by three interesting panel sessions. The AiRAP Panel Session was moderated by James Bradford, iRAP Global Technical Director. The session included progress on automated coding of iRAP attributes, using novel sources of data such as telematics, and a short presentation of the new Horizon project Phoebe, starting later this year. PPT presentations are available HERE.
Olivera Rozi, Project Director at EIRA, led the Sustainable Mobility Panel Session where RAP from the context of wider societal challenges such as health and carbon was presented. The session also covered the progress on CycleRAP, Star Rating for Schools, motorcycle safety and e-scooter/micro-mobility analysis. PPT presentations are available HERE.
The third Panel Session was dedicated to Innovation and Application. Marko Sevrovic, EIRA Senior Road Safety Engineer, moderated an interesting demonstration of the new route review tool, we discussed how RAP can help with the delivery of the RISM directive and showcased some case studies on how road authorities embed the use of the RAP data and tools in their activities. PPT presentations are available HERE.
Thanks again to all EuroRAP members and supporters for joining the event either in person or online and for all you do to make European roads safer.
