The European Investment Bank (EIB) is calling for individuals and organisations to participate in shaping the development of transport systems worldwide.

The bank’s questionnaire gives everyone a chance to share views about how the transport should evolve in coming decades. Chapter 3 – Urban Mobility and Chapter 5 – Extra Urban Roads are especially important for road safety.

Safe journeys – walking, bicycling, in public transport, on motorcycles and in vehicles – are at the heart of sustainable transport. It is critically important that banks and governments align with the new Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 with the aim of halving road deaths and injuries. By achieving the UN Global Road Safety Performance Targets 3 and 4 with 3-star or better travel for everyone, we will save more than 450,000 lives a year.

The deadline for contributing to this public consultation is Friday 29 October 2021.
