We are delighted to welcome PhD students Júlia Alves Porto y Mohammad Shahid as part of the IVORY Project
Júlia Alves Porto has her Masters of Science in Transportation and Civil Engineering.
Júlia will be working on DC8. Proactive risk mapping and infrastructure safety management and will be hosted by both NTUA and iRAP.
Júlia will focus on these objectives as part of the project:
- To create an AI framework to process, harmonise, analyse and model an array of different available datasets and provide outputs in the form of risk mapping and network-level evaluations
- To develop new AI algorithms for road attribute collection, along with methodologies to assess and quantify their accuracies, suitable for network applications and including hybrid, e.g., manually collected data
- To use the AI-augmented dataset creation effort for a suitable working methodology for the generation of hybrid road attribute data and enhanced proactive risk mapping

Mohammad Shahid has his Masters in Engineering – Computer Science and Technology
Mohammad will be working onDC12. Harmonisation and hybrid application of AI datasets for road safety and will be hosted by both FPZ and iRAP.
Mohammad will focus on these objectives as part of the project:
- To create a taxonomy for classifying datasets generated by AI algorithms applied to data from various sources (e.g., Lidar, 360 imagery, geo-spatial, telematics, satellite imagery and traffic management) and assess their transferability
- To create a new methodology for harmonising datasets generated by both AI algorithms and manual approaches
- To develop new hybrid road safety assessment models that effectively combine the advantages of various data sources, for determining the road crash occurrence risks and the risks of serious injuries to motorised road users and VRUs

Last week, the full IVORY Horizon Europe network “IVORY”, coordinated by TU Delft | Technology, Policy and Management, gathered in at NUTA in Athens.
The meeting provided the opportunity for all the doctoral candidates, their academic and industrial supervisors to gather together in person and explore the direction their research will take.
Welcome Júlia and Muhammad!
