New York, 21 July 2026 El International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) y el Ibero-American Road Safety Programme (OISEVI) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 2026 United Nations High-level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety, reinforcing their shared commitment to saving lives and preventing serious injuries on roads across Ibero-America.
The agreement establishes a framework for long-term collaboration to support countries in achieving the road safety targets of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021–2030 to halve road deaths and injuries by 2030.
Building on years of successful collaboration, the partnership will strengthen the capacity of governments and technical institutions to assess road infrastructure using the globally recognised iRAP methodology, develop evidence-based investment plans for safer roads, and monitor progress through improved data and road safety observatories.
The MoU also formalises iRAP’s role as a permanent collaborating organisation on OISEVI’s Advisory Committee, creating new opportunities to support member countries with technical expertise, policy development, training, knowledge exchange and the implementation of safe and inclusive mobility initiatives.

The Memorandum of Understanding is a timely example of how international partnerships are translating commitments into plans for action, strengthening collaboration to create safer journeys for all road users.
The MOU was signed during the Commitments in Action Roundtable: Multistakeholder Accountability for Safer Roads, an official Side Event of the UN High-level Meeting on Road Safety at UN Headquarters in New York.
