Australian company Future Data Sense Technologies (FEDASEN) has achieved AiRAP Accreditation for its FiRA (Fedasen Intelligent Road Analyser) system, strengthening the growing ecosystem of accredited digital solutions supporting safer roads worldwide.
The accreditation covers the automated coding of 42 iRAP road attributes in accordance with iRAP specifications, including attributes relating to speed management, lane number and width, median type, road curvature, pavement condition, skid-resistance-related context, intersection type and quality, roadside severity, delineation, pedestrian, school, bicyclist and motorcyclist facilities, land use, and the presence of rumble strips, vehicle parking and street lighting.
While the AiRAP Accreditation relates to these specified iRAP attributes, FiRA also supports broader road asset, condition, safety and network intelligence workflows beyond the accreditation scope, including asset discovery, condition assessment, change detection, dashboards, GIS-ready outputs and integration with authority systems.
FiRA leverages high-resolution 360° panoramic imagery, drive video and vehicle-mounted GNSS and IMU sensors to capture georeferenced road infrastructure data, typically sampled at approximately 5-metre intervals. The platform processes imagery and sensor data using FEDASEN’s proprietary artificial intelligence and machine learning models to automatically extract and code accredited road attributes, supported by evidence-based QA workflows, reviewer controls and audit-ready outputs.
The solution supports both pre-collected and on-demand data collection and is designed to support deployment across urban arterials, rural highways, freeways and local roads globally, providing consistent and scalable road infrastructure intelligence.
iRAP Global Technical Director James Bradford welcomed FEDASAN’s accreditation, highlighting the growing role of AI-powered data collection in supporting evidence-based road safety investment.
“AiRAP Accreditation provides road authorities and infrastructure managers with confidence that accredited solutions can generate and accelerate the collection of high-quality data aligned to the iRAP global standard,” Mr Bradford said.
Reza Zarrin, Chief Executive Officer of FEDASEN, said: “Achieving AiRAP Accreditation is a significant milestone for FEDASEN and validates the robustness of our FiRA platform.
Drawing on more than 170,000 kilometres of roads and footpaths surveyed and analysed across Australia and New Zealand, FiRA has been developed to deliver reliable, scalable and evidence-based road infrastructure intelligence.
This accreditation recognises our ability to help road authorities transform imagery and road data into actionable safety and infrastructure intelligence. Beyond AiRAP assessments, FiRA supports asset management, change detection, condition monitoring and evidence-based investment planning across road networks,” Reza said.
FEDASAN’s accreditation further expands the range of trusted digital solutions available through the AiRAP initiative, supporting organisations globally to collect road infrastructure data more efficiently and consistently while enabling data-driven action to reduce road trauma.
The AiRAP accreditation process is open to any data provider and is managed as part of iRAP’s broader accreditation program.

About FEDASEN
Founded in 2015, Future Data Sense Technologies (FEDASEN) is an Australian technology company transforming road and footpath asset management through advanced AI, machine learning and geospatial technologies.
Its flagship platforms, FiRA (Fedasen Intelligent Road Analyser) e FAMS (Fedasen Asset Management System), provide integrated solutions for the automated collection, assessment and management of infrastructure data, enabling predictive maintenance, strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making.
Having surveyed and analysed more than 170,000 kilometres of road and footpath networks across Australia and New Zealand, FEDASEN has established a strong reputation for delivering accurate, high-quality asset intelligence that helps infrastructure managers build smarter, safer and more sustainable networks.
FEDASEN’s platforms convert imagery, geospatial data and sensor inputs into decision-ready intelligence for road safety, maintenance, asset management, change detection and investment planning.
Sobre o iRAP
The International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) is a registered charity with the vision for a world free of high-risk roads. The charity works with governments, development banks, mobility clubs, industry, research organisations and road safety NGOs to provide them with the free methodology, tools, training, and support to make their roads safer. iRAP’s Star Rating Methodology provides a simple and objective measure of the level of safety which is ‘built-in’ to the road for vehicle occupants, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. A 1-star road is the least safe and a 5-star road is the safest.
As at December 2025, iRAP partners have assessed the safety of 2.2 million kilometres of roads and designs (including 2,475 schools) in 140 countries, informing the safety of US$120 billion of road infrastructure investments. Informed by the iRAP methodology, road safety infrastructure changes and safer speeds have prevented 860,000 deaths and serious injuries in 74 countries since 2016. 93,000 people have been trained. The charity’s tools and support are made freely available thanks to the support of major donor the FIA Foundation and supporter Aleatica Foundation.
iRAP is a member of: Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA); FIA Foundation; World Road Association (PIARC); United Nations Economic and Social Council (Consultative Status); United Nations Road Safety Collaboration; Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety; and the International Standards Organization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 241 – Road Traffic Safety Management Systems Liaison.
