As part of the Fundación AIP’s innovative Big Data road safety program, IA y Yo: Empoderando a los jóvenes para carreteras más seguras, AIP Foundation, iRAP and the Ministry of Transport (MOT) hosted the first hands-on training of the Youth Engagement APP (YEA) to key government stakeholders and teachers – in Ho Chi Minh City, Pleiku City, and Yen Bai, Vietnam. The main objective was to provide an introduction to the IAyYo program as well as launch the YEA App with instructions on how to use it.
Raise your voice: A Youth Engagement App for safer mobility
La YEA ofrece a los jóvenes una forma eficiente de identificar e informar sobre condiciones de carreteras de alto riesgo, brindándoles una plataforma para que sus voces sean escuchadas. A través de la aplicación, los funcionarios gubernamentales recibirán datos como recomendaciones prácticas para implementar intervenciones de seguridad vial efectivas y basadas en evidencia. Esto facilitará la identificación de puntos negros para un análisis más profundo que determine las calificaciones de estrellas para las zonas escolares.
The trainings were facilitated by MOT & iRAP’s leading technical experts in their field:

- Rafaela Machado, Star Ratings for Schools Global Coordinator, iRAP
- Mr. Le Van Thanh, Special list, Infrastructure Department, MOT
As a result of the training, the teachers will be better equipped to use the YEA app and play an active role in providing training to 1800 students from 18 pilot schools to use it. In turn, it is then these students that will raise their voices for streets for life. It brings us closer to our vision of a world where all neighbourhood streets are liveable, safe, and sustainable.
