Dr Suzy Charman, Executive Director of the Stichting Verkeersveiligheid, has seen her services to road safety recognised with an OBE in The King’s 2026 Birthday Honours List.
Dr Charman is a leading expert on the Safe System, with more than 20 years’ experience.
In her role at the RSF, Dr Charman leads the Verenigd Koninkrijk Wegenbeoordelingsprogramma and is a recognised thought-leader on speed management and infrastructure safety.
Prior to joining RSF, she served as head of international road safety at TRL and before that played a pivotal role in the establishment of iRAP.
Taking to LinkedIn, Dr Charman said: “My little name is among some truly great ones in the King’s birthday honours. It is rather overwhelming and very surprising!
“When I got the letter I thought I was being called up for jury service and when I read it I cried! It means so much!
“Thank you to everyone who has been on my journey with me – team road safety is full of incredibly brilliant, passionate and insightful people, many of whom I call friends.”
