June 23, 2025 – Today, iRAP proudly joins the global community in celebrating International Women in Engineering Day (IWED). This vital day highlights the achievements of women engineers worldwide and encourages more girls and young women to consider dynamic careers in this essential field. At iRAP, we recognise the invaluable contributions of women engineers in shaping safer roads and saving lives globally.
This year, iRAP is thrilled to announce we will again be offering training and accreditation grants for 30 talented engineers. Representation of women in the #RAPcommunity is currently just over 20%, and we want to empower more women in engineering with the skills and opportunities to lead in road safety engineering.
Waarom dit initiatief belangrijk is
Gender diversity in road safety engineering is essential for creating inclusive and effective solutions. Research highlights that men and women experience road safety differently due to physical, behavioural, and social factors. By involving more women in decision-making and design processes, we can address the needs of all road users and work towards eliminating high-risk roads globally.
Women engineers also bring innovative approaches to solving complex problems, making their contributions vital to achieving safer, sustainable mobility for all. This initiative celebrates their achievements and provides them with the tools to further their careers and make a lasting impact.

Over de opleidings- en accreditatiesubsidies
The 30 selected women engineers will receive access to iRAP’s Essentiële aspecten van sterrenbeoordeling En Star Rating for Designs courses free of charge. These comprehensive training programs are designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to assess road safety, develop safer road designs, and implement impactful safety measures. The training is delivered in flexible, self-paced formats, allowing participants to learn at their convenience.
Accredited engineers will gain expertise in iRAP specification activities, enabling them to contribute to safer road infrastructure, bid competitively on projects, and join a global network of road safety professionals.
Wie komt in aanmerking?
- Vrouwen met een achtergrond in weggerelateerde planning, ontwerp of techniek.
- Applicants who have not previously taken the Star Rating Essentials and Star Rating for Designs courses.
Selectieproces
We’ll select grant recipients based on their answers to the following questions:
- Waarom bent u geïnteresseerd in meer informatie over de methodologie van iRAP?
- Hoe ga je de kennis en vaardigheden die je in deze cursussen opdoet, gebruiken?

Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully.
De aanvrager van de iRAP-subsidie voor vrouwen in de ingenieurswetenschappen begrijpt en stemt in met het volgende:
- iRAP selecteert 30 vrouwen die gratis toegang krijgen tot de Star Rating Essentials- en Star Rating for Designs-cursussen.
- De geselecteerde vrouwen zullen:
- Een achtergrond in de ingenieurswetenschappen hebben.
- Motiveer het goede gebruik van de verworven kennis.
- Not be a beneficiary from other iRAP projects.
- Deze aanvraag is onderworpen aan de selectieprocedures van iRAP.
- iRAP behoudt zich het recht voor de aanvraag af te wijzen.
- Het voltooien van de aanvraagprocedure garandeert geen goedkeuring van de aanvraag.
- Indien de aanvrager voor de beurs wordt geselecteerd, stemt hij/zij ermee in de cursusactiviteiten uit te voeren en de opdrachten in te leveren om de cursussen te voltooien.
Indien de aanvrager voor de beurzen wordt geselecteerd, stemt hij/zij in met het volgende:
- Schrijf je binnen 3 maanden na je selectie in voor de gratis Star Rating Essentials- en Star Rating for Designs-cursussen.
- Voltooi beide cursussen binnen 6 maanden na inschrijving om gratis accreditatie te ontvangen (mits de opdrachten succesvol zijn afgerond) en een gratis eerste verlenging in 2025.
- iiRAP kan de subsidies te allen tijde naar eigen goeddunken opschorten of intrekken.
- De aanvrager stemt ermee in dat iRAP de inhoud van zijn aanvraag gebruikt om het subsidieprogramma te promoten.
- Indien de aanvrager wordt geselecteerd voor de subsidies, stemt hij of zij ermee in om halfjaarlijks aan iRAP te rapporteren over hoe de iRAP-methodologie wordt gebruikt om de wegen in het betreffende land te verbeteren.
