PLEIKU CITY, Vietnam – April 23, 2025

As part of the recently launched Autonomiser les jeunes pour des villes vivables program, two co-creation workshops were hosted by the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) and AIP Foundation and funded by Fondation Botnar. The objective of the two workshops was to collect real-time feedback from youth and local government from the first phase of the program (AI&Me: Empowering Youth for Safer Roadsand to ensure participants are actively involved in the development process of the digital tools of the new program, while also ensuring that the feedback gathered is actionable.

The first workshop was focused on the co-creation of the Citizen Portal with local authorities of 3 provinces (Quang Ngai, Vinh Long, Gia Lai) and school representatives of Gia Lai Province. The session aimed to define the core functionalities and structure of the Portal, which will serve as a central hub for project data and materials. Its purpose is to consolidate all project-related information and provide transparent access to community members, particularly government stakeholders. During the workshop, the government stakeholders actively participated in the group discussions and contributed useful feedback including on how the Citizen Portal can be promoted to the community and how it should display updated information on school zone modifications and upgrades.

Nothing about youth, without youth:

The second workshop centered on enhancing the previously developed Application d'engagement des jeunes (AEJ) through direct consultation with local youth. YEA is an interactive platform that enables young individuals to identify and report road safety conditions in the vicinity of their schools with ease, contributing to tackling the biggest killer of their generation – road crashes. The workshop featured group discussions, interactive games, and a sketching activity that encouraged students to share their ideas on making the YEA app more youth-friendly, intuitive, and engaging. A key highlight was the students’ active and open participation, offering valuable feedback and creatively redesigning parts of the app interface through drawings and mock-ups. These student-generated concepts will be used by iRAP to update the app, ensuring that youth perspectives are meaningfully incorporated into its development.
