Week of 3rd Global Ministerial Conference Stockholm Shines Light on Achieving Global Goals 2030

From 17-20 February, iRAP joined minister-led delegations from more than 140 countries and 1,700 representatives from industry, research and international road safety organisations in Stockholm for the 3rd Ministerial Conference on Road Safety and associated side events on Achieving Global Goals by 2030.

iRAP CEO Rob McInerney supported the Ministerial Steering Committee in shaping the global conference.

It was a jam-packed week with a key focus on how countries can achieve UN Targets 3 and 4 to save 450,000 lives by 2030 with 3-star or better road infrastructure for all road users. Highlights included:

Le Stockholm Declaration presented by the Swedish Minister for Infrastructure, Tomas Eneroth, as the outcome document of the Ministerial Conference now takes us forward to 2030. The Declaration calls for, among other things, separation of vulnerable road users from high-speed traffic, increased investment in safer road infrastructure, and where investment in better roads is lacking, the reduction of speeds.

The Ministerial Conference High Level Panels and concurrent sessions were webcast live from Stockholm and can be viewed ici.
