iRAP’s Training and Accreditation Grants Programme is dedicated to fostering a new generation of road safety professionals worldwide, directly supporting the global goal of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 to halve the number of road deaths and injuries by 2030.

Our aim is to build capacity and empower individuals and organizations to create a safer and more sustainable future on our roads. By providing grant assistance for training and accreditation, we are helping to build a global community of skilled practitioners equipped to achieve the UN Global Road Safety Performance Targets. We are committed to supporting aspiring engineers and road safety advocates, with a special focus on empowering women in the field and strengthening expertise in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Women in Engineering Training and Accreditation Programme Grants

The Women in Engineering Grants are designed to support and empower women pursuing careers in road safety engineering. We believe that diverse perspectives are crucial for creating effective and inclusive road safety solutions. This grant stream provides assistance to female engineers, enabling them to access iRAP’s internationally recognised training and accreditation programmes.

By investing in the professional development of women, we are directly contributing to the achievement of UN Global Road Safety Performance Targets, particularly Target 3: “By 2030, all new roads achieve technical standards for all road users that take into account road safety, or meet a three star rating or better”; and Target 4: “By 2030, more than 75% of travel on existing roads is on roads that meet technical standards for all road users that take into account road safety.”

An increase in the number of female practitioners will help to scale up the crucial work of assessing and improving road infrastructure to meet these life-saving standards.
