iRAP is celebrating an important milestone with the accreditation of Amadou Oury Diallo, the first person in Senegal to achieve iRAP Accreditation under the Ten Step Plan for Safer Road Infrastructure Project. This recognition confirms Amadou’s competencies in Road Attribute Coding, enabling him to contribute directly to improving road safety and supporting high‑quality, iRAP‑specification services across the country.
His achievement has been met with enthusiasm across the iRAP team. Nathalie Chiavassa, Safer Journeys Lead for Africa, highlighted the significance of this milestone for the region:
“Amadou’s accreditation is a landmark moment for road safety in Senegal. By building local expertise through the Ten Step Plan, we are ensuring that high-quality, life-saving infrastructure is led by those who know these roads best. I hope Amadou’s success inspires a new wave of practitioners across the region to join us in creating safer journeys for all.”
This milestone also supports broader capacity‑building efforts within the Ten Step Senegal Project, which provides free training and accreditation pathways for local professionals. While participation is growing, the team hopes that Amadou’s example will encourage more emerging road safety practitioners across Senegal to join the training programmes and help build a stronger safety culture nationwide.
