The International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) is a registered charity dedicated to saving lives by eliminating high risk roads throughout the world. Like many life-saving charities working in the public health arena, we use a robust, evidence-based approach to prevent unnecessary deaths and suffering.
The iRAP Innovation & Development (Inno&Dev) team leads strategic initiatives to enhance road safety through data-driven tools, software development, and applied research. The intern will support ongoing projects aligned with iRAP’s mission to eliminate high-risk roads.
What You’ll Do
As a a Projectmedewerker Verkeersveiligheid, you’ll play a vital role in our mission, gaining hands-on experience in applied innovation within a dynamic global context. You’ll contribute to:
- Tool & Methodology Enhancement: Help develop and refine iRAP’s cutting-edge tools and methodologies. This could involve supporting the creation or improvement of our systems, assisting with data collection, analysis, and visualization for critical research or pilot projects, and contributing to essential documentation like technical manuals and user guides.
- Data & Insights: Dive into real-world datasets, cleaning and formatting them, testing and comparing outputs, and reviewing academic and technical materials to inform our strategies. You’ll also help create compelling visuals to communicate key findings.
- Communication & Outreach: Assist in drafting engaging content for newsletters, social media, and internal updates. You’ll also help prepare presentation materials for both internal and external stakeholders, sharing the impact of your work.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a passionate and driven university student (junior/senior year) of recent graduate with a background in:
- Engineering
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- or related analytical and technical fields.
You should possess:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication (spoken and written English) en collaborative abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office is essential. Any experience with programming languages or existing iRAP tools and methodologies would be a bonus!
- Being based in the United Kingdom or Europe is also an advantage, though this is a remote position.
