iRAP was verheugd om deze week deel te nemen aan het Vijfde Internationale Forum voor Verkeersveiligheid voor Kinderen (FISEVI 2024) in El Salvador, georganiseerd door de Gonzalo Rodríguez Stichting en de regering van El Salvador, met deelname van verkeersveiligheidsautoriteiten uit onder andere Uruguay, Colombia, Chili, Panama, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras en de Dominicaanse Republiek. […]
The cornerstone event, which ran from 10-12 April, is the most important forum on children’s road safety and aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices at the regional level. Over 60 presentations, 30 speakers and six workshops featured in the programme.
iRAP’s Edgar Zamora, Safer Journeys Lead for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Franco Azzato, Training and Accreditation Coordinator, shared iRAP partners’ work in fostering safer youth journeys, and the importance of infrastructure and child safety in transport.
The event concluded with a declaration of commitment to the goals of the UN’s Global Road Safety Plan and the Stockholm Declaration, aiming to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030. The declaration emphasized the need for strong political leadership and international cooperation to protect children on the roads.
