{"id":83754,"date":"2025-11-30T23:34:51","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T23:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irap.org\/?p=83754"},"modified":"2025-12-02T02:30:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T02:30:44","slug":"ten-step-plan-for-safer-road-infrastructure-in-senegal-one-year-progress-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/vi\/2025\/11\/ten-step-plan-for-safer-road-infrastructure-in-senegal-one-year-progress-report\/","title":{"rendered":"K\u1ebf ho\u1ea1ch m\u01b0\u1eddi b\u01b0\u1edbc cho c\u01a1 s\u1edf h\u1ea1 t\u1ea7ng \u0111\u01b0\u1eddng b\u1ed9 an to\u00e0n h\u01a1n \u1edf Senegal: B\u00e1o c\u00e1o ti\u1ebfn \u0111\u1ed9 m\u1ed9t n\u0103m"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, significant progress was made in implementing the Ten-Step Plan for Safer Road Infrastructure in Senegal with rapid scaling of capacity, stakeholder coordination and the launch of SnRAP.<\/p>\n<p>At the November 2025 Steering Committee meeting, the team\u2014comprising Franco Azzato (iRAP Training and Accreditation Coordinator), Charles Lowan Bonou (iRAP-accredited trainer), Sabri Hamza (iRAP), Nathalie Chiavassa (Safer Journeys Africa-iRAP), and Seynabou Diallo (Engineer, IRF)\u2014presented the 2025 results and the outlook for 2026 to stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Achievements in 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Capacity Building and Training: An ambitious capacity-building and training program was deployed, with 154 participants enrolled on the Ten-Step Plan platform, which offers online courses from PIARC, IRF, and iRAP.<\/li>\n<li>In-Person Training Sessions: Three in-person sessions were organized for over 50 participants, covering PIARC\u2019s road safety engineering training, IRF\u2019s road safety audit training, and iRAP star ratings and design rating training.<\/li>\n<li>Road Safety Auditor Certification: For the first time in Senegal, road safety auditors were certified. Of the 21 registered for IRF auditor training, 12 successfully passed the exam. This milestone is expected to enable Senegal to conduct road safety audits for all road projects, leveraging local expertise.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening ANASER and Launching SnRAP: The technical capacity of the National Road Safety Agency (ANASER) was strengthened through the official creation of the Senegal Road Assessment Program (SnRAP) in May 2025 and the acquisition of a vehicle for road surveys and assessments\u2014another step toward achieving three-star or higher-rated roads in Senegal.<\/li>\n<li>National Workshops: Two major national workshops were held: the national launch in January 2025 and the PIARC (TC 3.1) workshop in September 2025. These events brought together the entire national road, transport, and safety community alongside international experts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Looking Ahead to 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reviewing Senegal\u2019s new national road safety strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Preparing recommendations for training and certifying road safety auditors.<\/li>\n<li>Administering iRAP accreditations.<\/li>\n<li>Conducting practical road safety assessments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In parallel, ANASER is undertaking institutional and technical strengthening activities, such as developing a Road Safety Audit Guide with World Bank support.<\/p>\n<p>The NGO LASER International, a Ten-Step partner, continues its efforts to improve safety around schools and advocate for enforcing the 30 km\/h speed limit near schools under the \u2018Safe Way to Schools\u2019 initiative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Youth Olympic Games 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Senegal will host the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2026.
