It serves as an \u201cidea bank\u201d for the Group of Twenty Countries (G20) by bringing together think tanks and high-level experts to discuss policy issues relevant to the G20. Significantly, road injury prevention has been included in the Sustainable Development Goals. The global mandate to improve road safety is especially critical for the G20 countries, which account for 59 percent of global road traffic fatalities and include some of the world\u2019s best and worst performing countries. A lack of application of minimum safety standards for vehicles and roads contribute greatly to road trauma and many G20 countries are still far from best practice.
