Access to the Portal is by invitation only to leads of National RAPs. The Portal is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2020\/09\/5-star-global-connections-to-save-lives-in-india-and-beyond\/\">5-Star Global Connections Initiative<\/a> made possible with the support of FedEx and the FIA Foundation.<\/li>\n<li>iRAP has recently launched <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/rap-tools\/\">RAPTools <\/a>helping partners to understand which tools can be used and when, to support <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2018\/04\/targets-3-4-what-they-mean-for-safer-roads-globally\/\">Targets 3 and 4<\/a>. The tools use the <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/methodology\/\">iRAP methodology<\/a> to support infrastructure safety management globally and locally.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.who.int\/media\/docs\/default-source\/documents\/health-topics\/road-traffic-injuries\/global-plan-for-road-safety.pdf?sfvrsn=65cf34c8_27&amp;download=true\">Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety<\/a> was recently profiled in Thailand&#8217;s Parliament.<\/li>\n<li>Members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadsafetyngos.org\/\">Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety<\/a> in more than <strong>20 countries<\/strong>, supported by local RAPs and\u00a0YOURS, have <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/11\/ngos-handover-global-decade-plan-with-commitment-call\/\">met with national decision-makers to present the new\u00a0Global Plan<\/a> for the Decade of Action and call for political commitment and action to save lives.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Europe<\/strong>, 20 national <a href=\"https:\/\/eurorap.org\/\">EuroRAP<\/a> programmes are going well and supporting implementation of the new RISM Directive. EuroRAP has commenced a <a href=\"https:\/\/eurorap.org\/invitation-to-eurorap-lunchtime-seminar-series\/\">lunchtime seminar series<\/a> which people are welcome to join.<\/li>\n<li>iRAP has been named as the road safety approach for the <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/10\/irap-announced-as-road-safety-approach-for-russia\/\"><strong>Russian Federation<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Tanzania<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/03\/the-ten-step-plan-for-safer-road-infrastructure-kicks-off-in-tanzania\/\">10 Steps for Safer Road Infrastructure pilot<\/a> is progressing well. Tanzania is the first country to pilot the 10 Step Approach which is designed to provide countries with a proven step by step process to build national capacity for safer road infrastructure and help them achieve Targets 3 and 4.<\/li>\n<li>AusRAP has been established in <strong>Australia <\/strong>for over a decade and is handing leadership from the national mobility club to Austroads. <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/11\/ausrap-news-new-direction-under-austroads\/\">Join the national webinar on 23 November<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Brazil<\/strong>, there&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/01\/brazil-62000km-assessment-underway\/\">62,000km assessment underway<\/a> and a strong focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/05\/brazilrap-news-first-federal-concession-awarded-with-irap-safety-metric\/\">Public-Private Partnerships<\/a>. The Ministry of Infrastructure of Brazil\u00a0 and the Brazilian Association of Road Concessionaires \u00a0have <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/02\/minfra-and-brazilian-association-of-road-concessionaires-sign-agreement-for-10-priority-axes-in-transport-including-irap\/\">signed an agreement that includes 10 priorities<\/a> for the transport sector, one of which is the \u201cRegulatory framework of iRAP\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/indiarap.org\/\"><strong>IndiaRAP<\/strong> <\/a>has recently <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/10\/indiarap-newsletter-october-2021\/\">published their latest newsletter<\/a> summarising project, capacity building and investment success.<\/li>\n<li>Local RAPs are shaping in <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/09\/road-safety-in-uzbekistan-under-national-spotlight\/\">Uzbekistan, <\/a>Tunisia and <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/04\/frsc-inaugurates-committee-to-establish-nigeriarap\/\">Nigeria<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Safer Journeys Regional Leader for Latin America and the Caribbean\u00a0<\/strong>is being appointed.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\"><strong>Star Rating for Schools<\/strong><\/a> is helping Lead and local partners to make school journeys safer in 43 countries. The <strong>FIA <\/strong>has produced a <strong>Toolkit<\/strong> to support mobility clubs and their recently announced<strong> School Assessment Programme Grants <\/strong>are <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/08\/10-projects-funded-for-safer-school-streets-fia-road-safety-grants-announced\/\">supporting clubs in 10 countries<\/a> to assess and upgrade high-risk school journeys.<\/li>\n<li>iRAP is running two <strong>grant schemes<\/strong> \u2013 one to build the capacity of <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/09\/congratulations-to-the-60-successful-recipients-for-iraps-training-and-accreditation-grants\/\">60 practitioners from low- and middle-income countries of Africa<\/a> and the second to support <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2021\/08\/congratulations-to-all-our-successful-candidates-for-irap-women-in-engineering-training-grants\/\">31 female engineers<\/a> to learn how to assess and design roads safely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The experiences and perspectives of leads in countries were shared via a selection of polls, prompting further discussion.
