iRAP is celebrating an important milestone with the accreditation of Amadou Oury Diallo, the first person in Senegal to achieve iRAP Accreditation under the Ten Step Plan for Safer Road Infrastructure Project. This recognition confirms Amadou\u2019s competencies in Road Attribute Coding, enabling him to contribute directly to improving road safety and supporting high\u2011quality, iRAP\u2011specification services across the country.<\/p>\n

His achievement has been met with enthusiasm across the iRAP team. Nathalie Chiavassa, Safer Journeys Lead for Africa, highlighted the significance of this milestone for the region:<\/p>\n

“Amadou\u2019s accreditation is a landmark moment for road safety in Senegal. By building local expertise through the Ten Step Plan, we are ensuring that high-quality, life-saving infrastructure is led by those who know these roads best. I hope Amadou\u2019s success inspires a new wave of practitioners across the region to join us in creating safer journeys for all.”<\/p>\n

This milestone also supports broader capacity\u2011building efforts within the Ten Step Senegal Project, which provides free training and accreditation pathways for local professionals. While participation is growing, the team hopes that Amadou\u2019s example will encourage more emerging road safety practitioners across Senegal to join the training programmes and help build a stronger safety culture nationwide.<\/p>\n

The Ten Step Senegal Project, funded by the\u00a0United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF)<\/a>, is a collaborative initiative involving the Government of Senegal through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Land, and Air Transport (MITTA) and National Road Agency\u00a0ANASER<\/a>, alongside a consortium led by the\u00a0Programa Internacional de Avalia\u00e7\u00e3o Rodovi\u00e1ria (iRAP)<\/a>\u00a0and including the\u00a0Federa\u00e7\u00e3o Rodovi\u00e1ria Internacional (IRF)<\/a>,\u00a0PIARC (World Road Association)<\/a>\u00a0and LASER International, with support from the\u00a0Grupo de Desenvolvimento de Infraestrutura Privada (PIDG)<\/a>\u00a0e\u00a0Funda\u00e7\u00e3o FIA<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Together, these partners are strengthening national road safety systems and ensuring that professionals like Amadou are equipped to drive safer, high\u2011quality road infrastructure across Senegal.<\/p>\n
