{"id":5137,"date":"2024-11-11T01:07:46","date_gmt":"2024-11-10T14:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/celebrating-excellence-in-road-safety-dr-suzy-charman-receives-2024-achievement-award\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T11:25:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T01:25:20","slug":"celebrating-excellence-in-road-safety-dr-suzy-charman-receives-2024-achievement-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/pt\/celebrating-excellence-in-road-safety-dr-suzy-charman-receives-2024-achievement-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating Excellence in Road Safety: Dr. Suzy Charman Receives 2024 Achievement Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Image credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/roadsafetygb.org.uk\/news\/road-safety-gb-presents-2024-awards\/\">Road Safety GB Awards<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last week, Road Safety GB announced the winners of its 2024 awards, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/roadsafetyfoundation.org\/\">Road Safety Foundation\u2019s<\/a> Dr Suzy Charman receiving the Achievement Award<\/p>\n<p>Road Safety GB is a national road safety organisation made up of representatives from groups across the UK, including local government road safety teams.<\/p>\n<p>Each year \u2013 at the annual National Road Safety Conference, Road Safety GB presents an award to recognise an individual who has contributed significantly to road safety in the UK over a substantial period of time.<\/p>\n<p>On 6 November, the 2024 Achievement Award was presented to\u00a0<strong>Dr Suzy Charman<\/strong>, executive director of the Road Safety Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Charman is a leading expert on the Safe System with just under 20 years\u2019 experience.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining the Road Safety Foundation, she was head of international road safety at TRL, and before that she was responsible for overseeing the establishment of the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP).<\/p>\n<p>Dr Charman received glowing support within her nomination submission: \u201cHaving the gift to either excel technically, or to lead others, or perhaps to persuade Ministers to give millions of pounds to road safety is special.
