{"id":11958,"date":"2026-07-15T10:24:45","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T00:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irap.org\/?p=11958"},"modified":"2026-07-17T13:40:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T03:40:30","slug":"commitments-in-action-roundtable-at-un-high-level-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/pt\/commitments-in-action-roundtable-at-un-high-level-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Commitments in Action Roundtable to Drive Accountability for Safer Roads at UN High-Level Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<section  class=\"text-editor-block section-pt-sm section-pb-sm bg-white\">\n        <div class=\"container\">\n            \n                            <!-- Single Column Layout -->\n                                    <div class=\"anim text-asphalt prose prose-lg text-left\">\n                        <p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Governments, civil society, technical experts and the private sector will come together at United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday 21 July for the <strong>Commitments in Action Roundtable: Multistakeholder Accountability for Safer Roads<\/strong>, an official side event of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/events\/detail\/2026\/07\/20\/default-calendar\/un-high-level-meeting-on-improving-global-road-safety\">2026 UN High-level Meeting on Road Safety<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Co-hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiafoundation.org\/\">Funda\u00e7\u00e3o FIA<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadsafetyngos.org\/\">Alian\u00e7a Global de ONGs para a Seguran\u00e7a Vi\u00e1ria,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/pt\/\">International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP)<\/a>, e <a href=\"https:\/\/valengar.com\/\">African Road Safety Observatory<\/a>, the interactive session will focus on a simple but powerful message: commitments alone do not save lives &#8211; It is an in-person only event and will not be streamed. Convened by the President of the UN General Assembly and the World Health Organization, the theme is \u2018Scaling up and accelerating implementation of commitments to halving road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The event will bring Heads of state and government, ministers, officials and experts together from governments, the UN, civil society, academia, the private sector and philanthropic foundations to advance progress in meeting the goal of halving road deaths and injuries by 2030 that was agreed in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/teams\/social-determinants-of-health\/safety-and-mobility\/decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\" data-sf-ec-immutable=\"\">UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030<\/a>\u00a0and the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p>The 2-day event will be live-streamed online. It builds on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.un.org\/en\/A\/RES\/76\/294\" data-sf-ec-immutable=\"\">Declara\u00e7\u00e3o Pol\u00edtica da Reuni\u00e3o de Alto N\u00edvel sobre Seguran\u00e7a no Tr\u00e2nsito<\/a>\u00a0adopted by the UN General Assembly in June 2022, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/19-02-2025-global-leaders-make-new-road-safety-commitments--endorse-new-declaration-on-action-to-reduce-road-deaths\" data-sf-ec-immutable=\"\">Quarta Confer\u00eancia Ministerial Global sobre Seguran\u00e7a Vi\u00e1ria<\/a>\u00a0held in Morocco in February 2025.<\/p>\n<p>A concise and action-orientated declaration will be agreed in advance by intergovernmental negotiation.<\/p>\n<p>Uma nota do Secret\u00e1rio-Geral da ONU, intitulada \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/digitallibrary.un.org\/record\/4104992?ln=en&amp;v=pdf\" data-sf-ec-immutable=\"\">Melhorando a seguran\u00e7a rodovi\u00e1ria global<\/a>\u2019 was released on February 13, 2026.
