Each improvement in road rating \u2013 for example, from 2 to 3 stars \u2013 can reduce fatalities by up to 50 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The results show the assessed road length of the concessions achieved a 3-star or better safety rating for vehicle occupants, aligned to Global Road Safety Targets. Infrastructure that achieves 3 stars or more is significantly safer, helping to save lives and reduce road traffic injuries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE CONCESSIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Coatzacoalcos Tunnel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Coatzacoalcos\u00a0Tunnel is strategically located and important for the flow of goods between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and for the development of southeastern Mexico, home to the largest oil and petrochemical industries facilities in Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>At 828 meters deep and 1.14km long, the\u00a0Coatzacoalcos\u00a0Tunnel consists of four lanes connecting from the mouth of the\u00a0Coatzacoalcos\u00a0River in the Gulf of Mexico to the town of\u00a0Villa Allende.<\/p>\n<p>The tunnel\u2019s submerged design is recognised for its technical innovation in the field of construction. The land route between Acapulco Bay and the airport is 12 km long and follows the Acapulco Scenic Highway but severe traffic congestion caused long delays. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrotunelacapulco.com.mx\/\">Macrotunel <\/a>was built through a state concession, and joint effort between federal, state, and private sector entities.
