Australia has shared the livesaving success of road safety improvements on the Oxley Highway which have reduced all severity crashes by 53 per cent and fatal motorcycle crashes by 67 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017\/18, responding to high fatality and serious injury rates, the speed limit on the Oxley Highway between Yarrowitch and Yarras was reduced from 100 km\/h to 80 km\/h, complemented by infrastructure improvements, both informed by AusRAP Star Rating results.<\/p>\n<p>The improvements included new clearzones, safety barriers, road delineation and the addition of audio tactile lane markers.<\/p>\n<p>Impressive Star Rating improvements and crash reductions were achieved:<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The case study has been shared this week, along with a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.nsw.gov.au\/roadsafety\/what-we-do\/safe-system\/nsw-ausrap-map\">New South Wales&#8217; (NSW) AusRAP Map<\/a> which maps the safety of NSW&#8217;s entire road network, totalling some 35,000km of roads.<\/p>\n<p>New South Wales is the first jurisdiction to publish its Star Rating results, part of a national commitment to publish AusRAP Star Ratings for all arterial roads by 2025.<\/p>\n<p>This aligns to Australia&#8217;s National Road Safety Strategy goal to ensure that 80 per cent of travel takes place on roads with a 3-star rating or higher by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The results show that more than 71% of travel in NSW is undertaken on roads currently rated 3 or more stars for safety.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_button
