{"id":69091,"date":"2023-08-01T05:30:02","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T04:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irap.org\/?p=69091"},"modified":"2024-01-05T05:30:31","modified_gmt":"2024-01-05T05:30:31","slug":"phoebe-update-mobility-in-west-midlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/2023\/08\/phoebe-update-mobility-in-west-midlands\/","title":{"rendered":"PHOEBE-update: Mobiliteit in West Midlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Overgenomen uit de <a href=\"https:\/\/phoebe-project.eu\/first-interview-floow\/\">PHOEBE-website<\/a>, 1 augustus 2023<\/em><\/p>\n<p>PHOEBE sprak met Sam Chapman, Senior Vice President of Innovation en mede-oprichter van &#039;The Floow&#039;, over het belang van <a href=\"https:\/\/phoebe-project.eu\/\">PHOEBE<\/a> voor West Midlands, de bestaande uitdagingen op het gebied van de verkeersveiligheid in de Engelse regio, evenals de potenti\u00eble resultaten en lessen die de pilot kan opleveren. &#039;The Floow&#039; werkt samen met het lokale transportbureau van Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) in hun inspanningen om de veiligheid van kwetsbare weggebruikers in verschillende verkeersscenario&#039;s in de dichtbevolkte regio te vergroten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goedemiddag Sam, hoe zou je de mobiliteitssituatie in de regio West Midlands omschrijven?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De transportdiensten worden geco\u00f6rdineerd door TfWM, dat de jurisdictie heeft over zeven grootstedelijke stadsdelen, waarvan de stad Birmingham de grootste is. Het lokale spoorwegsysteem omvat meer dan honderd stations, met diensten van zes verschillende exploitanten. E\u00e9n enkele lightraillijn verzorgt een tramdienst tussen de steden Wolverhampton en Birmingham. Vijftien exploitanten bieden busdiensten door de hele regio.<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens de ochtendspits wordt ruim 70% van alle ritten naar stedelijke centra met de auto gemaakt, wat afneemt tot 36% als Birmingham op zichzelf wordt beschouwd. TfWM heeft tot doel de hoge mate van autoafhankelijkheid terug te dringen en van West Midlands een plek te maken &#039;waar mensen kunnen gedijen zonder te hoeven autorijden of een auto te bezitten&#039;. Er is meer aandacht voor het bevorderen van actief reizen, dat minder dan 2% uitmaakt van het verkeer dat tijdens de ochtendspits de grootstedelijke centra binnenkomt. Tijdens de pandemie ontving TfWM \u00a3 16,85 miljoen als onderdeel van het actieve noodreisfonds van de Britse regering om speciale infrastructuur voor wandelen en fietsen te bouwen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wat zijn de unieke aspecten voor een regio in het PHOEBE-project?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In tegenstelling tot andere use-case-locaties is West Midlands een gecombineerde autoriteit die uit meerdere dorpen en steden bestaat. Elke lokale overheid zal haar eigen perspectief en prioriteiten hebben als het gaat om transport, voortkomend uit de verschillende niveaus van landelijke en stedelijke gebieden binnen elk lokaal bestuur. Veel van de regio&#039;s hebben een hoge mate van stedelijke achterstelling en een hoge bevolkingsgroei, wat nieuwe uitdagingen voor veilige burgermobiliteit cre\u00ebert.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wat zijn de uitdagingen op het gebied van de verkeersveiligheid in de West Midlands?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De West Midlands-doelstelling is een vermindering van het aantal ernstig gewonden en dodelijke slachtoffers (KSI) met 40% in 2028, wat een reductie vereist van gemiddeld 1048 van dit soort ongevallen in 2017 naar 629 in de komende vijf jaar. De regio wordt echter geconfronteerd met verschillende uitdagingen om veiligere wegen te realiseren, zoals een wijdverbreide verspreiding van e-mobiliteitsoplossingen, meer voertuigen die gebruik maken van verbonden en autonome technologie\u00ebn, en een toenemend aantal actieve verplaatsingen. In 2017 waren 64% van de KSI-weggebruikers in de West Midlands voetgangers, fietsers of motorrijders. Het gevaar bestaat dat het doel van de regio om de autoafhankelijkheid te verminderen en het aandeel actieve reisreizen te vergroten, zal leiden tot een toename van het totale aantal KSI-personen in een omgeving waar het onderliggende risiconiveau hetzelfde blijft.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hoe kan West Midlands de andere pilotsteden ondersteunen en vice versa?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Onze regio is een groot gebied met een grote verscheidenheid aan verschillende verkeersrisicoscenario\u2019s. Dit in combinatie met een groot aantal op elkaar gelegen programma&#039;s maakt het mogelijk lessen te trekken die toepasbaar zijn op andere regio&#039;s, waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van de grote verscheidenheid van de transportomgeving en de oplossingen daarvan.<\/p>\n<p>iRAP is er trots op partner te zijn van PHOEBE.
