{"id":6270,"date":"2026-03-02T23:22:05","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T12:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/safety-by-design-how-senegals-a1-motorway-cut-deaths-by-24-in-three-years\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T10:57:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T00:57:14","slug":"safety-by-design-how-senegals-a1-motorway-cut-deaths-by-24-in-three-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/safety-by-design-how-senegals-a1-motorway-cut-deaths-by-24-in-three-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Veiligheid door ontwerp: hoe de A1-snelweg in Senegal het aantal verkeersdoden in drie jaar tijd met 241% heeft teruggedrongen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Een afname van 24% in doden en gewonden in slechts drie jaar tijd.<\/p>\n<p>Dat is het resultaat dat tussen 2022 en 2025 is behaald op de Autoroute de l&#039;Avenir (A1) in Dakar, een van de drukste snelwegen van Senegal, die de hoofdstad verbindt met de luchthaven en de belangrijkste economische regio&#039;s van het land.<\/p>\n<p>Dit is geen toeval.<\/p>\n<p>Dankzij een gericht actieplan en infrastructurele verbeteringen uitgevoerd door <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eiffage.com\/\">Eiffage<\/a> Dankzij de Concession de l&#039;Autoroute de l&#039;Avenir (SECAA), een particuliere partner van de Senegalese overheid, keren nu duizenden mensen veilig naar huis terug.<\/p>\n<p>De veiligheidsbeoordelingen van iRAP hebben bijgedragen aan deze verbeteringen, waarbij praktische maatregelen zijn genomen zoals:<\/p>\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Centrale scheidingswanden en veiligheidsbarri\u00e8res met hoge afscherming.<\/p>\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Wegbermen met ribbelstroken.<\/p>\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Straatverlichting, met name in stedelijke gebieden en op kruispunten ten oosten van de snelweg.<\/p>\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Schermen met antireflectiecoating.<\/p>\n<p>De impact reikt verder dan alleen het aantal geredde levens. Minder ernstige ongelukken betekenen minder sleepoperaties, lagere operationele kosten en minder verkeersopstoppingen. Veiligheid levert ook operationele en financi\u00eble voordelen op.<\/p>\n<p>Dit is een uitstekend voorbeeld van wat investeren in verkeersveiligheid in de praktijk betekent. Er moet nog veel gebeuren, met name om de veiligheid van gemotoriseerde tweewielers te verbeteren, maar de vooruitgang die op de A1 is geboekt, laat zien wat er bereikt kan worden wanneer data, financiering en implementatie samenkomen.<\/p>\n<p>Terwijl Senegal gastheer is van de <a href=\"https:\/\/sn.linkedin.com\/company\/dakar-2026-comit%C3%A9-d-organisation-des-jeux-olympiques-de-la-jeunesse-dakar-2026?trk=public_post-text\">#Dakar2026 Olympische Jeugdspelen<\/a> Deze verbeteringen komen dit jaar op een goed moment.<\/p>\n<p>En het momentum groeit. Met steun van het UNRSF (VN-fonds voor verkeersveiligheid) en de Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) versterken partners zoals het Nationaal Agentschap voor Verkeersveiligheid (ANASER Senegal), het Senegalese Agentschap voor Wegwerkzaamheden en -beheer (Ageroute Senegal), de International Road Federation (IRF), PIARC (World Road Association) en iRAP de lokale capaciteit via het Tienstappenplan voor Veiligere Wegen in Senegal.
