Tien steden zullen tot $1 miljoen ontvangen om creatieve en impactvolle fietsvriendelijke straatontwerpen te implementeren die levens redden en de uitstoot verminderen<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bloomberg Philanthropies heeft de Bloomberg-initiatief voor fietsinfrastructuur (BICI)<\/a>, dat tien steden over de hele wereld zal helpen een veilige, onderling verbonden en innovatieve fietsinfrastructuur te cre\u00ebren die levens redt en de uitstoot vermindert.<\/p>\n

BICI zal worden geleid in samenwerking met het Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) en naast het ontvangen van maximaal $1 miljoen om hun voorstellen uit te voeren, zal elke stad ook technische assistentie krijgen van GDCI bij de projectimplementatie, het ontwerp van fietsvoorzieningen, het verzamelen van gegevens, het betrokkenheid en andere best practices.<\/p>\n

Parallel aan de nieuwe BICI-subsidies is iRAP op zoek naar partners om het nieuwe te testen CycleRAP<\/a> model dat succesvolle begunstigden een op bewijs gebaseerde methode biedt om de veiligheid te meten en te valideren Sterbeoordeling<\/a> van hun ontwerpen en infrastructuur.<\/p>\n

Dit unieke programma staat open voor steden met meer dan 100.000 inwoners en aanvragen kunnen worden ingediend tussen 10 november 2022 en 3 februari 2023. Steden kunnen een voorbeeld van de aanvraag bekijken, interesse tonen en zich aanmelden voor toepassingswebinars om wordt virtueel gehouden op 1, 2 en 3 november om https:\/\/bloombergcities.jhu.edu\/bici<\/a>.<\/p>\n

CycleRAP<\/a> is een gemakkelijke, betaalbare en snelle methode om de veiligheid van weg- en fietsinfrastructuur te beoordelen. Het heeft tot doel het aantal ongevallen te verminderen en de veiligheid te verbeteren, specifiek voor fietsers en andere gebruikers van lichte mobiliteit, door locaties met een hoog risico te identificeren zonder de noodzaak van ongevallengegevens.<\/p>\n

CycleRAP zal softwaretools aandrijven die worden gebruikt voor het lokaliseren en in kaart brengen van waar waarschijnlijk ongevallen met fietsers en lichte mobiliteit zullen plaatsvinden. Het model gebruikt gegevens over de kenmerken van een weg, straat of pad om het risico op ongevallen voor fietsers en gebruikers van lichte mobiliteit te evalueren, ongeacht het type voorziening (of deze zich op de weg of op het terrein bevindt) en voor alle soorten ongevallen. Het kan overal ter wereld worden gebruikt.<\/p>\n

Door fietsen in steden gemakkelijker te maken voor inwoners, zal de uitstoot van broeikasgassen worden verminderd, de volksgezondheid worden versterkt en de economische kansen worden vergroot. Maar om dat te laten gebeuren, moeten steden infrastructuur leveren die fietsen veiliger en toegankelijker maakt \u2013 en Bloomberg Philanthropies helpt hen daar graag bij\u201d, zegt Michael R. Bloomberg, oprichter van Bloomberg LP en Bloomberg Philanthropies en 108e burgemeester van New York. City, die de lancering aankondigde van het Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure op Bloomberg CityLab 2022. \u201cIn een tijd waarin veel steden moeite hebben om de binnenstad nieuw leven in te blazen, zullen investeringen in veilige, schone en toegankelijke transportopties als katalysator voor vooruitgang dienen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cInvesteringen in veilige en toegankelijke fietspaden zijn investeringen in de gezondheid, duurzaamheid en economische toekomst van de planeet\u201d, zegt Janette Sadik-Khan, directeur transport bij Bloomberg Associates en voormalig commissaris van het New York City Department of Transportation. \u201cSteden hebben infrastructuur nodig waarin de mens centraal staat, en niet alleen maar megaprojecten die auto\u2019s verplaatsen. Dit programma zal levensreddende straatontwerpen uitrollen en de uitstoot terugdringen die de wereld bedreigt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Succesvolle steden hebben transportsystemen nodig waarmee mensen zich veilig, effici\u00ebnt en duurzaam kunnen verplaatsen. Uitgebreide fietsnetwerken kunnen aan deze behoeften voldoen en tegelijkertijd de volksgezondheid en het welzijn verbeteren. Onderzoek toont consequent aan dat het bouwen van fietsinfrastructuur ook sociale voordelen oplevert die de investering te boven gaan en dat mensen die fietsen gezonder en gelukkiger zijn. Een belangrijke barri\u00e8re voor fietsen in veel steden is echter het gebrek aan veilige fietsinfrastructuur. BICI is ontworpen om stadsleiders te helpen tegemoet te komen aan de dringende behoefte aan een meer verbonden en uitgebreide fietsinfrastructuur die zoveel mogelijk inwoners bedient.<\/p>\n

'Als het om fietsinfrastructuur gaat, is elke stad uniek', zegt Skye Duncan, uitvoerend directeur van GDCI. \u201cMaar de behoefte aan verbeterde fietsnetwerken die veilig, beschermd en verbonden zijn voor alle leeftijden en capaciteiten is universeel. Of een stad nu al faciliteiten van wereldklasse heeft of haar reis begint om het fietsen te verbeteren, we kijken ernaar uit om samen te werken met de geselecteerde steden die klaar zijn om hun straten te heroverwegen door hun lokale fietsnetwerken te implementeren en op te schalen. GDCI kijkt ernaar uit om jarenlange ervaring op het gebied van fietsinfrastructuur mee te nemen in onze samenwerking met steden als onderdeel van BICI.\u201d<\/p>\n

De geselecteerde tien steden zullen in het voorjaar van 2023 worden aangekondigd en BICI zal hen de kans geven om niet alleen het fietsen lokaal te bevorderen, maar ook om zich aan te sluiten bij een mondiaal netwerk van collega\u2019s van wie ze kunnen leren hoe ze de beste praktijken op het gebied van fietsen wereldwijd kunnen bevorderen. Formele technische bijstand en andere programmaondersteuning, inclusief bijeenkomsten met andere winnende steden, zullen in de zomer van 2023 beginnen en maximaal drie jaar duren.<\/p>\n
