{"id":5046,"date":"2024-10-17T22:46:22","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T11:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/shaanxi-mountain-road-safety-project-wins-irf-global-award\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T11:25:28","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T01:25:28","slug":"shaanxi-mountain-road-safety-project-wins-irf-global-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/shaanxi-mountain-road-safety-project-wins-irf-global-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Shaanxi Veldweg Veiligheidsproject wint IRF Global Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Afbeelding: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/international-road-federation\/albums\/72177720321308429\/\">Internationale Wegen Federatie<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>De <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adb.org\/\">Aziatische Ontwikkelingsbank (ADB)<\/a>, provinciale transportafdeling van Shaanxi, de <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/\">Internationaal Wegenbeoordelingsprogramma (iRAP)<\/a>, and the China Road Assessment Program (ChinaRAP) at the Research Institute of Highway (RIOH) are honoured to announce the life-saving Shaanxi Mountain Road Safety Demonstration Project has received a prestigious International Road Federation (IRF) global award.<\/p>\n<p>Presented yesterday in Istanbul, the project was awarded IRF\u2019s Rural Roads and Mobility Award, recognising its significant contribution to road safety in the mountainous province and impressive collaboration among government agencies, private enterprises, and civil society in achieving sustainable road development.<\/p>\n<p>Het demonstratieproject voor verkeersveiligheid in de bergen van Shaanxi heeft opmerkelijke resultaten opgeleverd op het gebied van verkeersveiligheid: dankzij infrastructuurverbeteringen op 850 km hoofd- en landwegen is het aantal dodelijke slachtoffers met 331 en het aantal gewonden met 531 gedaald, waardoor jaarlijks naar schatting 32 levens worden gered en 868 verwondingen worden voorkomen.<\/p>\n<p>Het percentage van de beoordeelde wegen dat voldoet aan de algemene veiligheidsnorm van 3 sterren of meer is met 52% gestegen.<\/p>\n<p>Infrastructuurverbeteringen omvatten wegverbredingen, uitgebreide rotsvalbescherming en hellingstabiliteitsmaatregelen, de toevoeging van verharde bermen, vangrails, lagere snelheidslimieten, verkeersremmende maatregelen en zebrapaden.<\/p>\n<p>Bovendien namen ruim 200 professionals deel aan trainingen op het gebied van verkeersveiligheidsonderwerp en -beheer, terwijl 2.400 buurtbewoners deelnamen aan educatieve activiteiten op het gebied van veiligheid.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Stapleton, Senior Transport Specialist at the ADB said, \u201cWe are delighted to see the project recognised with an IRF Award today.\u00a0 The Shaanxi Provincial Government requested ADB financing support to upgrade trunk and rural roads to improve road safety, increase access and reduce poverty. We\u2019re really proud of the significant safety impact it has had for the local communities in Shaanxi and the replicable model it sets for other provinces and countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greg Smith, Global Programme Director van iRAP, merkte op: \u201cEen belangrijk kenmerk van het Shaanxi-project is de primaire focus op veiligheid als onderdeel van deze grootschalige infrastructuurinvestering. It is the result of an extensive collaborative effort among transport bureaus, traffic police, and schools and sets a new standard for road safety in rural areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zhang Tiejun van het ChinaRAP-team van het Research Institute of Highway (RIOH) zei: \u201cDit project heeft meer wetenschappelijke methoden gebruikt om de veiligheid gedurende de gehele levenscyclus te verbeteren, van ontwerp tot toekomstige exploitatie.
