Veilig wegontwerp is cruciaal voor het bereiken van dit doel en voor een veiligere, duurzamere en veerkrachtigere infrastructuur. Het Wereldwijde Plan voor het Decennium van Actie voor Verkeersveiligheid beveelt aan om sterrenbeoordelingen en verkeersveiligheidsaudits uit te voeren op alle ontwerpen om een minimale standaard van drie sterren of hoger te garanderen voor alle weggebruikers, waarbij de nadruk ligt op de noodzaak van snelheidsbeheersing en investeringen. Deze rondetafelbijeenkomst brengt leiders in de ontwikkeling van weginfrastructuur samen om best practices, strategie\u00ebn en lopende projecten te delen, evenals knelpunten en kansen om de veiligheid in wegontwerp wereldwijd te verbeteren.
