{"id":4754,"date":"2024-05-30T02:38:46","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T16:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/perus-2030-multisector-road-safety-strategy-includes-irap-for-safer-journeys\/"},"modified":"2024-05-30T02:38:46","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T16:38:46","slug":"perus-2030-multisector-road-safety-strategy-includes-irap-for-safer-journeys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/perus-2030-multisector-road-safety-strategy-includes-irap-for-safer-journeys\/","title":{"rendered":"Peru\u2019s 2030 Multisector Road Safety Strategy includes iRAP for safer journeys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Peru\u2019s Multisector Road Safety Strategy 2023-2030 includes iRAP for the enhanced management of infrastructure safety, including for urban, highway and school environments.<\/p>\n<p>The Strategy of Peru\u2019s Ministry of Transport and Communications includes to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhance current infrastructure road safety evaluations that traditionally apply the Road Safety Manual with acceptable use of the iRAP international standard;<\/li>\n<li>Systematically implement iRAP risk assessments in urban and highway environments;<\/li>\n<li>Increase the percentage of technical teams in national hierarchies trained in and performing iRAP road safety evaluations on a continuous basis;<\/li>\n<li>Achieve the target for 50% of travel on existing roads to be on the equivalent of 3-star or better for all road users by 2030, meeting the national safety standard adapted from iRAP; and<\/li>\n<li>Build capacity in and increase the percentage of local governments that implement safe school environments aligned to the iRAP star rating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By building local capacity, enhancing how infrastructure risk is systematically and continuously evaluated and addressed, and identifying road segments with a lower Star Rating, resources will be optimized on interventions to greatly improve safety and reduce the number of crashes, fatalities and serious injuries on Peru\u2019s road network.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"et-button\" href=\"https:\/\/resources.irap.org\/CRM\/Latin_America\/Peru\/2023-2030_Peru_Multisector_Road_Safety_Policy.pdf\">Download the Strategy (in Spanish)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Partner-led iRAP activity has already assessed more than 4,500 km of roads and designs, and 7 schools in Peru, influencing the safety of US$862 million of road infrastructure investment. 151 people have benefited from iRAP global\/on-line training, along with 43 people trained in events delivered locally.\u00a0 Aleatica\u2019s AUNOR concession has been assessed and investment optimised to improve safety outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>According to iRAP\u2019s Safety Insights Explorer, achieving UN Target 4 for greater than 75% of travel on 3-star or better roads for all road users in the country by 2030 could save an estimated 1,433 lives a year, and 315,209 lives and serious injuries over the 20-year life of road treatments, with an economic benefit of USD$35.5 billion \u2013 $7.8 for every $1 spent.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Peru-BCSR.png\" alt=\"Peru BCSR\" \/><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peru\u2019s Multisector Road Safety Strategy 2023-2030 includes iRAP for the enhanced management of infrastructure safety, including for urban, highway and school environments.
