{"id":4605,"date":"2024-03-12T04:00:26","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T17:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/costa-rica-tec-and-irap-sign-mou-for-safer-roads-in-central-america-and-the-caribbean\/"},"modified":"2024-03-12T04:00:26","modified_gmt":"2024-03-11T17:00:26","slug":"costa-rica-tec-and-irap-sign-mou-for-safer-roads-in-central-america-and-the-caribbean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/costa-rica-tec-and-irap-sign-mou-for-safer-roads-in-central-america-and-the-caribbean\/","title":{"rendered":"Costa Rica TEC en iRAP ondertekenen MOU voor veiligere wegen in Midden-Amerika en het Caribisch gebied"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>De <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tec.ac.cr\/en\">Costa Rica Instituut voor Technologie (TEC)<\/a> en <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/\">het Internationale Programma voor Wegenbeoordeling (iRAP)<\/a> hebben een Memorandum van Overeenstemming ondertekend om verkeersveiligheidsprojecten en -programma's te bevorderen om wegen met een hoog risico in Costa Rica te elimineren, met levensreddende effecten die waarschijnlijk zullen zijn in de bredere Centraal-Amerikaanse en Caribische regio.<\/p>\n<p>TEC is de op \u00e9\u00e9n na grootste openbare universiteit van het land, toegewijd aan onderwijs, onderzoek en wetenschappelijke en technologische innovatie voor de ontwikkeling van Costa Rica en daarbuiten.<\/p>\n<p>De bevordering van veilig en duurzaam transport, de toepassing van de door iRAP ontwikkelde instrumenten voor verkeersveiligheidsbeoordeling, kennisuitwisseling en de vooruitgang van overheidsbeleid en de expertise van deskundigen voor veilige weginfrastructuur zijn de belangrijkste aandachtsgebieden van de samenwerking.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/safety-insights-explorer\/\">Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie gegevens<\/a>, In Costa Rica vallen jaarlijks meer dan 800 dodelijke slachtoffers in het verkeer, en daarnaast zijn er 22.330 ernstig gewonden. Verkeersongevallen kosten het land 4,11% van het jaarlijkse bbp.<\/p>\n<p>Het verbeteren van de veiligheid van de wegeninfrastructuur in Costa Rica tegen 2030 biedt enorme mogelijkheden: naar schatting 59.718 vermijdde sterfgevallen en ernstige verwondingen gedurende de levensduur van 20 jaar van de wegmaatregelen, en een economisch rendement van 1,88 voor elke 1 euro die wordt uitgegeven.<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens de ondertekeningsceremonie zei professor Irving Pizarro Marchena van TEC: \u201cDe ondertekening van deze MOU weerspiegelt het leiderschap en de prioriteit van de universiteit om de verkeersveiligheid in Costa Rica en de regio te versterken, in technische samenwerking met internationale experts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHet ondersteunt de nakoming van de verbintenissen en doelstellingen van de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/teams\/social-determinants-of-health\/safety-and-mobility\/decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\">Wereldwijd Actieplan Decennium voor Verkeersveiligheid 2021-2030<\/a> om het aantal verkeersdoden en -gewonden tegen 2030 te halveren.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edgar Zamora, iRAP's Safer Journeys Lead for the Americas zei: \u201cDit partnerschap is enorm spannend. TEC is een academische leider van naam, niet alleen in Costa Rica, maar ook in heel Centraal-Amerika.\".<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&quot;Deze samenwerking zal van cruciaal belang zijn voor het behalen van de VN-doelstellingen 3 en 4 voor wereldwijde verkeersveiligheid in het land.
