{"id":45665,"date":"2021-05-05T01:53:30","date_gmt":"2021-05-05T00:53:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irap.org\/?p=45665"},"modified":"2023-06-22T01:25:31","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T00:25:31","slug":"partnerships-for-2030-impact-irap-is-ready-for-the-2nd-decade-of-action-for-road-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/2021\/05\/partnerships-for-2030-impact-irap-is-ready-for-the-2nd-decade-of-action-for-road-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Partnerschappen voor impact in 2030 \u2013 iRAP is klaar voor het tweede decennium van actie voor verkeersveiligheid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.21.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Halving road deaths and injuries by 2030 will require a team effort.\u00a0 We need to scale up the proven interventions and partnerships worldwide and work together to achieve the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/violence_injury_prevention\/road_traffic\/12GlobalRoadSafetyTargets.pdf\">UN Global Road Safety Performance Targets<\/a> and save more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaccinesforroads.org\/business-case-for-safer-roads\/\">450,000 lives a year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At its most recent meeting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/about-us\/?et_open_tab=et_pb_tab_2#mytabs|4\">iRAP Board of Trustees<\/a> signed off on the <a href=\"https:\/\/resources.irap.org\/General\/iRAP_Plan_for_Decade_of_Action.pdf\">charity\u2019s life-saving strategy for the decade<\/a> and the fine details were locked in during a month-long series of team meetings in March 2021. The strategy, and our ability to continue to provide iRAP tools free for the world to use, is underpinned by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiafoundation.org\/blog\/2021\/march\/fia-foundation-sets-2030-objectives-with-funding-strategy-to-support-decade-of-action-for-road-safety-and-the-global-goals\">ongoing generous donor support of the FIA Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new strategy will focus on supporting the partnerships for 2030 impact.\u00a0 We will take shared action and celebrate shared success as we manage speeds and improve safety at schools and on streets and highways. Development Banks and international financing institutions; national, regional and local governments; the consultant and construction industry; policy experts and researchers; NGOs and other safe system partners all working together with a common focus on achieving Targets 3 and 4.\u00a0 We are organised, we have the tools ready to use and we are ready to mobilise the partnerships for 2030 impact.<\/p>\n<p>Partnership priorities for the 2nd Decade of Action for Road Safety include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting the achievement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/violence_injury_prevention\/road_traffic\/12GlobalRoadSafetyTargets.pdf\">Global Road Safety Performance Target 3<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/project\/star-rating-for-designs\/\">Star Rating for Design (SR4D)<\/a> initiative, enabling every road design around the world to be star rated for safety.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the achievement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/violence_injury_prevention\/road_traffic\/12GlobalRoadSafetyTargets.pdf\">Global Road Safety Performance Target 4<\/a> by making safety assessments faster and more affordable with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/project\/ai-rap\/\">AiRAP initiative<\/a> and supporting the work of the Regional Road Safety Observatories to monitor progress.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the policies and initiatives of our global partners, including the Multilateral Development Banks (MDB) as they implement the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eib.org\/attachments\/press\/mdb-high-level-joint-statement-on-road-safety-en.pdf\">joint statement on an ambitious and integrated approach to road safety<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Enabling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/project\/innovation-social-impact-investment\/\">results-based financing partnerships<\/a> that accelerate public, private and donor investment in proven high-return road safety upgrades that will reduce deaths and injuries.<\/li>\n<li>Institutional partnerships to support the implementation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/ten-step-plan-webinar\/\">Ten Step Plan for Safer Road Infrastructure<\/a> in countries around the world.<\/li>\n<li>Working with governments, private companies, international institutions, non-government organizations and individuals to apply iRAP tools in proven and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/innovation\/\">innovative<\/a> ways to mobilise investment in safer roads.<\/li>\n<li>Enabling a scaling-up of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.starratingforschools.org\/\">Star Rating for Schools (SR4S)<\/a> with Lead Partners and donors to accelerate the implementation of safety countermeasures at schools.<\/li>\n<li>Continuing to grow the number of people able to perform iRAP assessments through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/training\/\">training<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/accreditation\/\">accreditation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To implement the strategy, the iRAP leadership team will be organised as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rob McInerney will continue to lead the programme as CEO.<\/li>\n<li>Shona Holroyd will continue as the CFO to lead iRAP Finance and Administration.<\/li>\n<li>Greg Smith will take on the new role of iRAP Global Programme Director, supporting iRAP\u2019s more than 15,000 partners across 100+ countries who lead their own national activities and deploy and use the free iRAP protocols.<\/li>\n<li>Julio Urzua will take on the role of iRAP Strategic Projects Director, working with the team that supports partners implementing their road assessment project activities worldwide.<\/li>\n<li>James Bradford will take on the role of iRAP Global Technical Director and lead the re-named iRAP Innovation and Development team, overseeing the iRAP global standard and methodology, ViDA software and innovation partnerships.
