Het Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), Hellastron en het Griekse Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Transport hebben een voorstel ingediend bij het European Road Assessment Programme voor een nationaal EuroRAP-programma in Griekenland. De volgende ronde van EuroRAP-licenties voor nationale programma's wordt naar verwachting in februari 2020 bekendgemaakt.<\/p>\n

Het nationale plan voor Griekenland stelt voor dat CERTH wordt aangewezen als de "EuroRAP Griekse nationale programmaleider". CERTH zal samenwerken met Hellastron en het Griekse ministerie van Infrastructuur en Vervoer voor de uitvoering van een strategisch programma voor de beoordeling van de wegeninfrastructuur (Road Assessment Programme, RAP). Dit programma maakt het mogelijk om de prestaties van Griekenland op het gebied van infrastructuurveiligheid tot 2030 te volgen, in lijn met de VN-doelstellingen 3 en 4 voor verkeersveiligheid in 2030. Het ondersteunt tevens de Europese langetermijndoelstelling om tegen 2050 bijna nul dodelijke slachtoffers en ernstig gewonden in het wegverkeer te bereiken. Daarnaast zal CERTH het Griekse ministerie en Hellastron ondersteunen bij de nieuwe rapportageverplichtingen van Richtlijn 2008\/96\/EC betreffende het beheer van de veiligheid van de wegeninfrastructuur.<\/p>\n

Griekenland is het enige land dat de Europese doelstelling heeft gehaald om het aantal verkeersdoden tussen 2011 en 2020 met 501 ton te verminderen, en de vooruitgang is bemoedigend gezien het werk dat tot nu toe is verricht. Desondanks heeft het land met 64 doden per 1 miljoen inwoners het hoogste dodental binnen de EU.<\/p>\n

In een reactie op de ontwikkeling van een nationaal plan voor Griekenland zei Lina Konstantinopoulou, secretaris-generaal van EuroRAP: \u201cIk ben zeer verheugd te zien dat Griekenland het voorbeeld volgt van landen die succesvolle nationale EuroRAP-programma's ontwikkelen en nauw samenwerken met de relevante wegbeheerders. De EuroRAP-programmapartners in Sloveni\u00eb hebben bijvoorbeeld onlangs de prestigieuze Prince Michael International Road Safety Award ontvangen voor hun prestaties. Ik kijk uit naar de bijdrage die EuroRAP kan leveren aan een snelle vermindering van verkeersslachtoffers en hoop dat Griekenland de komende tien jaar tot de koplopers op dit gebied kan blijven behoren.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
