{"id":40362,"date":"2020-09-10T02:04:56","date_gmt":"2020-09-10T02:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/?p=40362"},"modified":"2020-10-08T00:15:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-08T00:15:55","slug":"unrsc-webinar-summary-the-ten-step-plan-for-safer-road-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/2020\/09\/unrsc-webinar-summary-the-ten-step-plan-for-safer-road-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"Samenvatting van het UNRSC-webinar: het tienstappenplan voor een veiligere wegeninfrastructuur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.22&#8243;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||0px||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||0px||false|false&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.25&#8243; custom_padding=&#8221;|||&#8221; custom_padding__hover=&#8221;|||&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>On 9 September, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irfnet.ch\/\">International Road Federation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/\">iRAP<\/a>\u00a0hosted a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/roadsafety\/en\/\">United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC)<\/a>\u00a0webinar on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/roadsafety\/publications\/en\/\">Ten Step Plan for Safer Road Infrastructure<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Ten Step Plan was produced by the UNRSC Safer Roads and Mobility Group partners to provide a clear process for establishing systems, building capacity and creating partnerships to support implementation of the UN Convention on Road Traffic and Road Signs and Signals and achievement of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/violence_injury_prevention\/road_traffic\/12GlobalRoadSafetyTargets.pdf?ua=1\">UN Member States Agreed Global Targets<\/a>\u00a03 and 4 for safer new and existing roads.<\/p>\n<p>The Ten Step Plan is a key resource to support the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/74\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2020\/08\/Draft-Resolution-Road-Safety.pdf\">Second Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030)<\/a>\u00a0which aims to halve deaths and injuries by 2030. Currently, more than 1.35 million people are killed and as many as 50 million people are injured a year, with 90 per cent of those casualties occurring in developing countries.
